05 Love Displayed – The Theological Virtue at the Cross

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (ESV)

Love is:

1. Divine in its origin – flowing from the very nature of God Himself
(1John 4:8, 19; Psalm 103:8).

2. Supreme in its demonstration – Christ dying for us while we were yet sinners
(Romans 5:8; John 15:13).

3. Transforming in its power – making us new creatures in Christ
(2 Corinthians 5:14-15; Romans 5:5).

4. Eternal in its dimensions – securing our salvation forever.
(Romans 8:38-39).

5. Practical in its outworking – compelling us to love God and others
(1 John 4:11; 1. Corinthians 13; James 2:17).

6. Comforting in its assurance – giving us peace in the midst of trials
(1 John 4:18; Zephaniah 3:17).

7. Celebrated in eternity – being the theme of our everlasting worship
(Revelation 5:9).
