What does the LORD Require from You?

Micah 6:6-8

6 “With what shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? 7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”
8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

What God requires of His people is not possessions and sacrifices, but:

  1. To do justly – the virtue of righteousness – to give to God and your fellow human beings what is due to them – to love the Lord your God with your whole heart, mind and strength and your neighbour as yourself. The Lord Jesus Christ showed us how.

  2. To Love Kindness – show compassionate warmheartedness toward other people – to also show mercy when you are mistreated.

  3. To Walk Humbly with God – to walk humbly and submissive to the will of God – to know who is man and who is God – to know that we are mortal, but He never dies.
