The Glorious Realities and Truths of Christ’s Gospel

Selected Scriptures

To understand the Good News we must first understand the Bad News, namely that humankind sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Why are there so much pain and brokenness about us? As Christians we answer: ‘It was caused by the Fall’. We cannot fix this, but need someone bigger than us to fix the Penalty, the Power and the Presence of sin. Only God can.

We need to rejoice in the beauty and the wonder of the Gospel, which is Good News about:

  1. Two Glorious Events – Jesus died and rose again (1 Cor. 15:3-4) and is victorious over sin and death.

  2. We have Two Irrefutable Witnesses – the Old Testament which promised the redemptive work of Christ and the New Testament which proclaims that the prophecies were fulfilled (2 Tim. 3:16; Gen. 3:15; Isaiah 7:14; Mat. 1:22-23; Acts 2:30-31).

  3. From this emanates Two Glorious Realities – Jesus reigns as Lord and Saviour (Phil. 2:9-11). If you turn to Him, He will not show you away.

  4. He makes Two Unfailing Promises – forgiveness of sins and Eternal Life in the Lord Jesus Christ (Eph. 1:7).

  5. But there are Two Requirements – we must repent and believe the Gospel (Mark 1:15), embracing the promises of God and turning away from sin, trusting in the Lord Jesus only for salvation.

The Gospel is that Jesus died and rose again according to the Old and New Testament Scriptures, now reigns as Lord and Saviour and promises forgiveness of sins and Eternal Life to all who repent and believe. This is the best news that ever has been revealed to mankind. Tonight, as you hear His voice, do not harden your heart.
