1st Thessalonians 5:
15See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. 16Rejoice always, 17pray without ceasing, 18give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Philippians 4:
6do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
1st Timothy 2:
1First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour, 4who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Mathew 6:
9Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name.
10Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us this day our daily bread, 12and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Colossians 4:
2Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.
1 John 5:
14And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us.
1. Pray without Ceasing (1 Thess. 5:16; Phil. 4:6; 1st Tim. 2:1-4; Mat. 6:9-13; Col. 4:2; 1 John 5:14)
2. Read God’s Word (Mat. 4:4; Heb. 4:12; John 15:7)
3. Abide in Christ (John 15:4-7)
What it means for you to abide in Christ:
a. Given grace before the world was created (2nd Tim. 1:9).
b. Chosen by God before creation (Eph. 1:4).
c. Loved by God with an inseparable love (Rom. 8:38-39).
d. Redeemed and forgiven all sins (Eph. 1:7).
e. Justified before God and the righteousness of Christ is imputed to you (2nd Cor. 5:21).
f. In Christ Jesus you have become a new creation and a son of God (2nd Cor. 5:17; Gal. 3:26).
What it means to be in Christ and to abide in Him:
a. He is your Prophet – you listen to Him.
b. He is your Priest – you receive from Him the benefits of justification that He earned on the cross for you as the Lamb without blemish, slain before the foundation of the world.
c. He is your King whom you obey.
4. Yield to God’s Law (Ps. 119:10-11; Ps. 1:1-2; John 14:15; Mat. 22:36-40)
5. Expect the Lord (Rev. 3:11)
6. Rejoice in God (Rom. 5:3-11; Phil. 4:4).
