69 How to Have Personal Saving Faith

Romans 10:17

17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. (ESV)

Real Christian faith is not like a talent or ability, but a character trait linked to the conscience. You are without excuse if you ignore your conscience. We can change and undergo transforming grace, know God personally through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

You can develop true and real faith. Here’s how:

  1. Faith comes to you through hearing:
Faith comes supernaturally to even the greatest skeptic – to the simplest and to the most brilliant people.
The realization that all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory offers an answer as to what is wrong with the world – people wanting to be their own god.
How do you fix it? When we hear that God became Man – hearing His message – the word of Christ.
Without God’s message we have nothing with to clarify or problems and to offer a solution.

  2. It’s not a Message about joining a group:
No matter how classy a group it might be – you can belong to the most religious group of people in the world, but that won’t give you personal faith that changes you, unless you hear from them the word of Christ. Its message is not a list of prohibitions or a set of rules – a list of don’ts which are all wise words, but they are not the message that creates the faith that can save your soul.
What we offer men and women is not a rule book, but the Good News of hell subdued, of sins forgiven and peace with heaven through Jesus Christ– of a Saviour willing to be your Prophet, Priest and King, who offers Himself to repentant sinners – of an indwelling, helpful Holy Spirit and a loving Father who never leaves you nor forsakes you.

The message that you need to hear is the Gospel, the Good News that Jesus, after being born from a virgin, died and rose again according to the Old and New Testament, that He reigns as Saviour and as Lord on His throne of glory and that He promises forgiveness of sins and eternal life to all who repent and believe.
