29 Assurance of Salvation

Romans 5 v 9 – 11

9Since, therefore, we have now been justified by His blood, much more shall we be saved by Him from the wrath of God.
10For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by His life. 11More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Four great realities:

1. We were all enemies towards God and He towards us – we need to be reconciled to Him.

2. God the Father has worked redemption decisively in the past and will do so in the future infallibly to save all His people. The Love of God rescues us from the Wrath of God.

3. Both God’s past work and future work to rescue us from His Wrath are only through the work of God the Son and are definite.

4. The past work of God in Christ increases the certainty of our salvation in the future – seen in the words ‘much more’.
