28 The Greater thing that God has done

Romans 5 v 9 – 11

9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by His blood, much more shall we be saved by Him from the wrath of God. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by His life. 11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.  (ESV)

Three things can go wrong in our lives:

1. Flaws in our Creed.

2. Flaws in our Character.

3. Flaws in our Conduct.

In the midst of these flaws God makes statements that assure us of salvation – how we can be sure that we are eternally saved:

1. We have been saved from the wrath of God through the cross Christ through the Justification by His blood.

2. We are being saved from the power of sin through Sanctification.

3. We will be saved from the very presence of sin through Glorification.

God declares us to be righteous by the perfect righteousness of Christ with which He clothes all believers. It’s the grace of God that makes Justification possible, coming to us through the channel of faith, which is God’s gift. The death, the blood and righteousness of Christ saves us – nothing else.

God justifies the ungodly entirely by the righteousness of Christ.  We are not justified by our sanctification or good works, but only by His righteousness. He has done it, and regards believers as righteous on the basis of Christ’s righteousness. The Apostle Paul rejoiced in it, and so should we.
