Matthew 6 v 9 – 13
9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. 10 Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. (ESV)
Our Prayers should:
- be to a Person (vv 9-10)
a. The Father of all believers.
b. Our Sovereign, Omnipotent God in heaven.
c. We must address Him, remembering His holiness.
He must be approached in fear and reverence.
Our only access to the Father is in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. - include Petitions (vv 10-13)
Before we bring our petitions, we must pray that His kingdom come and His will be done.
a. It is a request for Jesus to return to rule on earth.
b. It’s a personal request for His kingdom to be supreme in our lives.
c. It’s an Evangelistic request to bring others to Him.
It’s the prayers prayed in the will of God that are answered.
